NANA'S GREEN THUMB AT WORK

It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas!

Yesterday it was 80 degrees, today it will not get out of the 30's. Only in Texas. The weekend went fine, a little windy, but it has been like that since October. lol
I have all my Christmas stuff done, if you can believe that. Here at the lake we have had Christmas Parades, and lights galore. It is really beginning to feel alot like Christmas.

The Dallas Cowboys won last night. This is what I think: California oranges
Texas Cactus
Our Dallas Cowboys
Need loads of practice!!!!!!!

They looked really good on defense, and so so on offense, I think Romo needs some help, bad.
He is not the same player he was last year. I guess that is what millions of $$$$$$$$$$ will do that for you. Our media in the DFW area will kill a franchise in a second.

I heard that our Hana Grace got to see Santa Claus on Saturday. I hope she did fine.
Josh and Angela are on their way.
So at our house in Tool, Texas..it is Beginning to feel alot like Christmas....blog at you later............................

Muggy Monday

IT is so weird outside. Supposed to be almost 70 today, the wind is blowing like crazy and we have a chance of rain. What the hell, it is Texas.

Did anyone see the Cowboy game yesterday? I feel like Tony Romo was in the Christmas spirit a little too much. He gave the game away. Yep I said it, TONY ROMO GAVE THE GAME AWAY! We are hanging on by the skin of our chinney chin chin! I am not ready to look forward to next year again. I want a winner this year.

Wind! Wind! Wind!

Where did all this wind come from. It seems like March lol. The leaves have to be about a foot deep in the yard. And the pine cones omg! we must have a dump truck full in our front yard.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Just had to blog about this damn wind.

Where did the week go?

It has been over a week since I last blogged! Sorry, but we have had a very busy week. Me and Nana went to Jennifers on the 22nd of November for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and did not come home until Saturday the 29th. Wow did we ever have a busy week. I helped Jennifer get her house in order, since she was hosting Thanksgiving again this year for the entire family. We did some shopping before the Holiday, then we ventured out on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving for the shopping with all the sales. We got several good deals. Then we came home and lounged around. I helped her get her house back in order after all the festivities. We came home on Saturday.

It was a very nice Thanksgiving, it could have been better if Bubba and Patti could have been here. We talked to them though and he seemed to be doing fine, I believe he is going back to work this Monday. We had quite the crowd, Josh flew in from L.A., and Ashley and her family came, Sis, Courtney, Joe, Hana Grace, Victoria and Trish were there too. We all had such a good time. The Cowboys won, and we played Cranium until really late, then we did a game of Scategories. It was really a good time for all.

We got home, unpacked and headed to Walmart for groceries, since we had been gone for a week, we had nothing in the house. Got back from Wally world and put everything up, and started doing laundry. It took me all evening to do it all, and now on Sunday I am doing 2 more loads.

We took Maggie with us, but Lucy stayed home, she sure was glad to see us. She got lots of treats when we got home.

Well we will find out today who will play Missouri in the big 12 championship game this evening. Sure hope it is Oklahoma. We don't have another Cowboy game till next Sunday and they play the Steelers. We need to win all of the rest of the games.

Better go for now, blog at you all later.......................................

Wednesday again!

I can't believe that it is Wednesday already. Seems like I wake up on Monday morning and go to bed on Friday night. lol Guess that is what happens when you start getting old. Oh well, it happens to everyone.

Talked to Jeff today, he sounded really good. He knows that he is a very luckyoung man. I think that he will be fine. Sure wish they all could come to Thanksgiving this year. Maybe we will see him soon. I sent him all the blog information on everyone so him and Patty could keep up with all of us.

Sure saw some pretty pictures of little Hana Grace in her tutu today. She is really a little ham.
From what I understand she has quite an attitude too. No idea where she gets her personality.

Nana and I are getting ready to go up to Jenn Ellens Saturday morning. I talked to her today too! She was on her way to pick up some pictures she took of Hana yesterday, for her first birthday. I heard that they are really good. Of course, Jenn took them of Hana, what a combination. lol

We will be going to Hana's birthday party on Sunday. I am sure she will love all the attention that she will get.

We have another cold front moving in. It got up to 80 degrees today and tomorrow it will be 20 degrees cooler. The weather should be quite nice while we are at Jennifer's, and for Thanksgiving too.

Better go for now. Blog at you soon........................

GRINNING & WINNING

Just thought I would comment on the Cowboy Game last night.

It was quite nice to see Tony Romo on the field again. The Boy's did win, and they actually looked pretty good. They could be alot better, but I will take a win any way that I can get it.

Tony Romo was GRINNING & WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunny Sunday

Well here it is Sunday again. Today is sunny and cold. It got down to around 34 degrees here last night, pretty chilly for the zone. It is supposed to warm up later today to abut 70 degrees, and be pretty nice the rest of the week. I have a busy week planned, besides looking for work, I will be getting ready to go to Jenn Ellen's next week for Thanksgiving.

Nana and I will be leaving on Saturday for Jennifer's. We will help her get ready to host Thanksgiving again at her house this year. We are expecting around 20 people. We always have such a good time. We will do some shopping while we are there, of course. We are taking our little yapper dog Maggie Mae. Sure hope she minds well. I am sure she will.

Josh is coming home fro Thanksgiving! Yeah!!!! Brad will come up with Sister on Thanksgiving morning, and ride home with me and Nana when we come home.

My brother suffered a heart attack last week. They had to put in 3 stints. The Dr. said he had minimal damage and should be fine with no restrictions. I do believe that he knows how lucky he is.

Well the Cowboys play again this evening. Thank God Tony Romo will be back. Sure hope he can help, but I think it is too late. They play the Washington Redskins today, then on Thanksgiving they play Seattle Seahawks. Between the Redskins and the Seahawks they play the 49ers. Sure wish they could win some more games. Who knows may be they will turn around.

I am going to try to blog more. I have no excuses about not blogging. But i do know someone who is way behind, but she has been really busy.

Got to see Hana Grace this week a few times. Her and her mommy came down to the lake to stay for a few days while her daddy was working in east Texas. She is really a cutie now that she is walking. She just goes wherever she wants.

Better go, I am cooking a pot roast today. Need to go and peel some potatoes and carrots
and onions for the dinner.

Blog at you all soon...............................................................

GO COWBOYS!

Su nday in the zone

Well it has been a long time since I have blogged. I have been real lazy. Working in the yard, with all the leaves, and looking for work.
Nothing to blog about the cowboys, except that they have some big problems, they play the Giants today and I hope we don't get beat by more than 30 points. I watch a good football game yesterday, Texas vs. Texas Tech. Texas got beat, it was a really good game. Tech was really fired up.
Hana Grace is a real walker now. She can go where ever she wants to go. We did not have any trick or treaters this year again. In about 30 years I bet we have not had 20 kids on Halloween.
I got a Halloween card from the Massey's, Jenn Ellen and Lisa Yates. Now we are facing Thanksgiving. I think we are going to have it at Jenn Ellens again this year. Me and Nana are going to go up a few days early and get everything going.
Better go for now, blog later if the cowboys do any good. lol..............................

ANOTHER WEEKEND GONE!

Well here it is, Monday again already here. We had a very nice weekend, we ventured to the Massey's in McKinney. Their home is very nice. I love the yard, it is totally cool.
We did Joe's birthday on Sunday, his real birthday was on Wednesday. We all went together and got him a Chimenaia and some wood to burn in it. I do think he liked it.
The Cowboys lost again on Sunday. They have some major problems within the team.
The Texas Longhorns won on Saturday, yea!

We had such a good time at the Massey's. I got to see Jennifer, she took some major pictures of Hana Grace. Also, got to see Victoria, Joe's sister, she is always a hoot. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Won't see any of them again till Thanksgiving. Josh is going to come home for Thanksgiving. We did not think he was going to at first, but he called and said he would be here for Turkey Day. Him and Angela are going to drive home for Christmas and will be here for quite a while.

Hana was such a good girl on Sunday. She really put on the glitz for all of us. She has to be the sweetest baby I have been around in a long time. She is for sure walking now. Just when she wants to. She can speed crawl like a maniac. We all love to see Hana.

Better go for now, blog at you all later............................................

Monday, Monday

Not much to blog about. That is foe sure, the Cowboys lost, they looked like crap, Romo is out for at lest 4 weeks, broken finger, and our kicker may be out, they think he has a broken foot. Sure hope Romo gets some mental help while he is out, he sure needs some kind of help, he is not near the player he was last year.
Enough of that crap.

Sister won first place at the Black-eyed-pea contest Saturday, and the Grand Champion too. We all know she is great, now the town of Athens does too. Congrats to Sister.

Wed.. is Joe's birthday!!!!!!!! We are going up there this next Sunday, to celebrate his B-day,
and see their new home. Well of course we will be seeing Hana Grace too. Courtney says she is a walker for sure now. She just takes off when she wants too.

Well that is all for now, blog at everyone later...........................................

Rainy Monday!

Thank goodness it is raining today. We needed it so much. I can hear all the plants and the yard laughing right now.
Now about the Cowboy game yesterday. Well we won, but it sure was and ugly win, but we won. I think there must be some type of distraction going on internally in the team. Hope they can get their !?^! together soon. They can be such a better team.
Me, Nana and Brad worked in the yard the last few days. We trimmed all the shrubs down in the front of the yard, and burned all the branches. I love to burn. We started burning out a dead stump on Thursday, it was still burning or smoldering this morning before the rain started.
One side of it burned really quick but the other side is taking longer.

I am still looking for a job. Hope to find something really soon. The sooner the better.

The Massey's moved into their new home over the weekend. I know they will really love it.

I talked to Jennifer yesterday, she was working and trying to fight off a cold. Hope she gets to feeling better.

Not much else going on here in the Zone. Guess I will blog at you later.........................

Sad Sunday

Well the Cowboys got beat today. That is for you Boss Clark. They sure did not play up to their potential. They are a much better team. They could not stop the Redskins, no matter what they did. Enough of that.

We did have a good time today though. Sister, Mark and Glenda, Pat and Terry, and Pam and Gordon all came over to watch the game. We did have a great time visiting with all of them. Brad cooked brawts on the grill, we made some potatoe salad, some baked beans, Yerry brough a huge cooler of homemade magaritas, that were so good, Glenda brought a great salad and some macaroni and cheese. Pam brought the famous mexican fudge. It was all so good.

Well I don't have much more to say. Tomorrow is Nana's 83rd birthday. Hope I live that long, or do I. lol

Another week gone!

Can't believe that it has been that long since I last Blogged. Oh well, we worked out in the yard eveyday last week. After the storm "Ike" blew through our area, it took us a week to get the yard straightened up.
Still looking for a job. It really sucks, no one is hiring right now. Maybe they will be soon. I am determined to find something.
The Cowboys played last night, Sunday night, we had to wait all day for Sunday night. They beat the Packers, yeah. Now they are 3 and 0 . I could not really get into the game, don't know why, just couldn't get into it. They play this Sunday at 3:15 against the Washington Redskins, sure hope they c an beat them.
I have heard that Hana Grace is painting now. She is taking steps too.

Weekend Over!

As I blogged on Friday, we had a visitor over the weekend. Yes Ike made an appearance.
He came a little early, did his damage then ran like a hunted dog. lol He took our electricity on Saturday, mid morning, around ten thirty, and we did not get it back on till about the same time this morning. Thank God, Sister let us come over and stay there for Saturday night and Sunday during NFL Football. Nana and I came back over to the house last night and stayed here because it got down in the fifties last night and was really cold.

We got up this morning and started working on cleaning our yard! We did not have any huge limbs blown off but plenty of small ones. We got it all done, and burned. Now I am so sore it is pitiful.

I am getting ready for Monday Night Football, the Cowboys play the Eagles. Sure hope we win. Almost all of the announcers yesterday picked the Cowboys over the Eagles. Go Cowboys.

We got to talk to Josh Bob on Saturday evening. He sure sounded good. Wish her was here to watch this game with us. We sent him and Angela a Dallas Cowboy Flag. He said he had it up on his balcony. He lives on a very busy street. Everyone can see it. Great!!!!!!!! I also told him that I was really enjoying "Prison Break" this year. It is very good this season so far.

Better go for now and take my pre-game shower.

Yikes Ike!!!!

Well it is Friday again. We are going to have a visitor this weekend. His name is Ike. I hope he doesn't stay too long, and doesn't make a mess. Ike is a hurricane that is going to hit the coast of Texas tonight sometime. We could get hurricane force winds as far north as Canton. So that means us Zoners here at Cedar Creek Lake could really get a good blow job. lol

Nana and I went to wally world this morning and got some batteries and picked up a weather alert radio. We should have had that radio long before now. We are both scared of any type of bad weather.

We have so many very tall trees, I just have a feeling that we may lose some of them. Sure hope not, but you can never tell. Brad will be home for this, thank God. We do have a generator, and I filled my car up today. We have plenty of candles, I also feel like we will loose electricity at some point. It is not common for us to lose power with just a little wind storm, and this is going to be a really bad wind and rain storm. The only good thing about it is that it is suppose to move through very fast, like in about 18 to 24 hours it should all be over.

Brad went fishing with Mark and Glenda a little while ago. He said they think the fish will be biting before Ike hits. Who knows. I told him not to bring any fish home.

I am so proud that Hana Grace's Aunt Victoria and Pop Pop Wayne no longer live in Galveston.
They moved up here just recently. Thank God they are up here now.

Well I had better go for now, I am glued to the weather channel. They are saying that it is worse than they ever thought.

Blog at you later..................................

Finally Friday!

I did not think Friday would ever get here. I have been busy today doing things around the house, getting ready to go north tomorrow. Me, Nana and Sister are going up to Jenn Ellens and Courtney's tomorrow when Sister gets off work. I can hardly wait to see little Miss Hana Grace.
I haven't seen her since July, and that is entirely too long. I have viewed her on her blog, but that is not the same as seeing her in person. It will be nice to see Jenn Ellen too. And of course it will be good to see Courtney and Joe.

I think we will stay till after the Cowboy game on Sunday. Hope they win, We need to have a decent season this year. I don't have to hurry home on Sunday since I don't have to go to work!
That really sucks, but I feel confident that I will find a job soon. Someone out there needs me. lol

Blog at you later.............................

Sunday, August 31, 2008

UGH!

I know it has been a really long time since I last blogged. Well I haven't had alot to blog about. It has been hot and dry. I lost my job(that really sucked). Just waiting for the hurricane to hit the coast so it will rain for a while.
Thank god Brad Boy got a job. lol I will find something else somewhere. I heard that Hana Grace is really growing. Sure do enjoy reading her blogs, she is such a busy little girl. We may see her soon. Jenn Ellen was supposed to come down over the weekend, but she had some work to get out the first of this week, so she is working on it this weekend. I did get on Josh's blog and look at the pictures they took, they are all so good. I sent him a package Friday, he should get it Tuesday or Wednesday! I sure hope he likes it.

Better go for now, not much happening in my world, sorry. Blog at you later.........................

Weekends Suck

Yep that is what I think, weekends suck. They are way to short!. By the time we do our Saturday ritual, and this weekend we had to take Maggie to the groomers, and get home and do all my cleaning it is Saturday night. Then Sunday is here and it seems about 8 hours long. lol
On Friday of this week, Nana was ill. She actually got sick on Thursday evening, and started throwing up and aggravated her hernia, and got very dehydrated. I was going to try to take off work and come home and take her to the emergency room. But none of my so called help would come in to relieve me. I had to wait till I got off work at 6pm came home loaded her up in the car and take her then. Luckily we were not there very long, less than 2 hours. The Dr. checked her out worked on her hernia and got it back in, gave her an IV and re hydrated her gave her something for nausea. She got to feeling much better, then they released her, and we were home by 9pm. She felt so much better that she went to Walmart with me on Saturday and is going strong now. I think she must have ate a bad jalapeno pepper Thursday for lunch started throwing up and aggravated her hernia, and got dehydrated. Anyway she is lots better now. And I have cut her off jalapeno peppers for now.
I received 2 pictures of Hana Grace from California. They should be home this afternoon sometime. I sure do miss her blogs. Hope she put on a good show for Uncle Hollywood and Aunt Beverly Hills. I am sure they all had a good time.
We have some neighbors, Terry and Pat, they live on the corner across the street from us, well Terry gave us their old 32 inch color TV. They just bought a flat screen. So we took their old one and put it in the garage, it has picture in picture, and the sound is so good. Now we have televisions all over the house. lol Now I guess we will have to be nice to them, invite them over to watch the cowboy games, they don't have cable. Oh well, we will see.
I sure have enjoyed watching the Olympics. They always make me so proud of the youth of the United States of America.
Well that is how my weekend went. I still think Weekends Suck! Blog at you later........................

Steamy Saturday

Another Saturday has come and is almost gone. We did our usual today, got some really good deals at the Wally World today. Brad had to go to work today to finish a Job he started yesterday. He said he would probably be home by 5, but he hasn't made it yet. The weather is so steamy today, or it seems like that to me. I am watching the Olympics on television, and getting ready to watch the Cowboys. I am so glad football has started, I love the sport and it also means that cooler weather is on the way. lol

Hana Grace has really been blogging lately. She does such a good job. I love to read her blogs., and look forward to the pictures and videos.

Heard the Jenn Ellen is going to cruise again this February. She sure has a good time when she goes. Hope this one is just as much fun as all the others. Also she found some new treats for Rowdy, I think someone said they had crack in them. Maybe I should get some for or red-neck Lucille.

I can't believe it is already the 10Th of August. My time sure does go by fast the older you get. Seems like I go to work on Monday morning and when I leave it is Friday evening already.

Brad is going to start wiring the garage, then he will sheet rock it and that should really help out there. I am fixing to get the new furniture out of lay-a -way, so we will have a lot of moving stuff around. Sure would like for it to get a lot cooler before all that takes place.

Blog at you all later.......................

Monday is gone, Tuesday here already!

Well i did not have to go to jury duty. The bailiff called Monday afternoon and said it had been canceled. Thank goodness, I surly was not looking forward to going to Athens Courthouse and sit. I hear that our little Hana is having a bad few nights. Hope she is doing better now. She was supposed to go to the Dr. today.

I do have some news from the zone. Zack Green made the varsity football team at Malakoff High School. Pam sent me an e-mail today with the schedule listed. Hope he does ok. We will try to make some of the games when it starts cooling off a little. It actually got cloudy today and rained a little. We have a better chance of rain tomorrow. Wish it would rain all day. lol
Nothing much else going on here in the zone. Blog at you all later.....................................

Blogcation is over !

Wow I had such a nice blogcation. It was nice and long. Well people I am back. Sorry for the long drought but you know how us zoners are. We have a hard time figuring out time. I really did not realize that July 19, 2008 was the last time that I blogged. We had the July Birthday Bash, that was quite a success if I do say so myself. I really enjoyed everyone that made an appearance. Could not believe the Dietz family came. That was a nice surprise. Ashley and Nathan's children are so cute. Of course Hana Grace was the hit as always. She was a little moody this time, I think it was too many people she did not recognize. I had quite the experience cleaning Jenn Ellens vehicle after Rowdy's little mishap. It was no big deal, someone had to do it, and i don't think Jenn Ellen could have handled it. lol
It has been so damn hot. Too hot for anyone to be outside doing anything. Bradley started to work in all the heat. Nana's garden is just about gone, too hot for tomatoes to grow. Our yard is looking pretty bad too. Oh well pretty soon we will be bitching about the cold and wet. Us zoners are never satisfied. I get to go to Athens on Tuesday, for jury duty, I think this is the third time this year. The first time I had to go all the way over to a little bo-dunk town called Poyner and got picked to serve on the jury. That really sucked. The second time I got notice from the City of Tool, what a joke, thank god that one was canceled. Now I have to go to Athens. Sure hope I don't get picked. I will probably know the person, or heard of the case, or at least I hope that is what happens. I do get paid for that day at work, then the big county pay, wow that is so nice.
I just saw on the weather where it is 103 in Mabank, Bradley is working on his boat and the thermometer on his depth finder says it is 113 degrees. Man that is hot.
I have really enjoyed Courtney's blogs, her and Hana sure have a good time. I especially like the latest one with Hana playing peek a boo, she is so cute.
Glad the hear the Jenn Ellen really like her birthday present. I know she will make lots of neat cards and other things. She has been very busy at work also.
My work was really crazy for the month of July, we set a record for our business with over 85,000 tons of material shipped out. That is alot of sand and rock. I have had several zone encounters at wal mart the last couple of weeks. So many I cannot even remember them all.
I am ready for some football, and cooler weather. Got to go and get ready for work tomorrow,
i will try to keep up on my blogging, it may be hard after my great blogcation. I will be blogging later.........................................

SATURDAY?

Another Saturday in the zone. Not much going on today. We did our usual wal mart run, then we went to brookshires, the the dollar store. We actually went to Brookshire on Thursday evening too. When we got the sale papers this week, they(Brookshires) were having a midnight madness sale on Thursday. Now get this a Midnight Madness sale, it started at 4PM and lasted till 10PM. I guess that is considered midnight in the ZONE! Who would of ever thought?
Well Brad boy made it home Friday evening, he went fishing with Mark and Glrenda, they caught 48 before it got dark. The sand bass were schooling.
I ordered the birthday cake for next Saturday. We will be celebrating 7 birthdays. Jennifer, Bradley, Ashley, Brandon, Mark, Ron and Sonny's. We are going to cook hamburgers before we cut the cake. Sure hope everyone enjoys it all.
Tomorrow is Brad Boy's birthday. He will be 37. Nana got him a fish cooker today and a cover for his gas grill. Can't mention what we got Jenn Ellen, I don't want her to read about it. lol
It would be nice if Josh bob and Angela were here for the celebration.
Nothing special is going on today, so I will blog at you later.................................

Stormy Sunday

It was so hot today again. We kept hearing thunder in the distance, then the storm hit. Very heavy rain, wind blew and hail. The hail started out pretty small then got pretty big and lasted about 10 minutes. Then it just rained with the sun shining.
Judy Kerr and Matt came by today, she got a new vehicle. Well it was not brand new, but new to her. It is a 2003 Trail Blazer with all the goodies. It started storming right after she got here, and we had to pull her vehicle under the patio. It was really something. Well I can still hear thunder, hope we get some more rain, just not storming.
Brad just left to go and check on Mark and Glenda, they were out on the lake when the storm struck, and he could not get them on the phone. Sure hope they are okay.
Sounds like Jenn Ellen had a busy weekend with all the theatre stuff. Hope today was as good as yesterday was for her. She said Rowdy was doing better too. Have not talked to sister this weekend, she must have a lot on her schedule too.
Brad has to wait till in the morning to find out about his truck and trailer from Palm Harbor. He should start this week working. He is very excited about it.
Well it is raining again now, wish it would rain all night and all day tomorrow, we sure need it.
That is how my Sunday has been so far, hot, rain, hail, more rain and I blogged about it all. Till something else becomes blog worthy. ..............................

Sizzlin Saturday

Hot! Hot! Hot! Man was it hot today. I think it got up to 102 degrees, and here in the zone that is way too hot. Well it was another Saturday shopping trip to Wally World. No encounters of any kind this morning. It was really nice.
When we got home I did all my cleaning and will do my ironing tomorrow. Brad cleaned some fish that they caught last night. He was going to grill some fish, but we all decided to drive over to the Old West Steak House in Athens and have a late lunch. So off we go, Nana, me,. Brad, Glenda , Mark, Sonny and John a friend of Marks. We all got the buffet and were absolutely stuffed. Then we came home and crashed. It was around 5:30 when we got back. Brad said he was going to grill the fish tomorrow. I don't like grilled fish, so I will eat something else.
Brad actually starts work this week. He is very excited about it. Hope it all works out for him.
Hope everyone has a nice cool evening. Blog at you later............................

Wacky Wednesday

Well it is wacky Wednesday. We were so busy today at work, with trucks, and I could not get anything else done. Bradley went down to Buda Texas Tuesday morning for his job interview. It must have gone pretty good, he is not coming back home till sometime Friday. Then he has to go back down there on Sunday to get his truck and trailer. I think he will like this pretty well.He will be working for Palm Harbor Homes.
Well I got an unusual picture from Courtney today. I literally laughed out loud when I saw that our little angel Hana Grace had pooped on the floor and smeared it around with her feet. Only bigger and better things to come for the Massey Family. Wait till she is walking around and dropping little turds everywhere. lol That will be a hoot.
Jennifer said they got some rain yesterday, of course here in the zone we only got thunder and no rain what so ever. I don't think we are living right here.
Well better go. everyone have a good evening. Blog later.....................

4th of July was Zonerific

Well we had a very long holiday weekend. This was the 4th of July in the Zone. It was great this year, although we did miss Josh Bob and Angela, and Ashley and her family. I do believe that we had the most fireworks on the lake this year than ever before. Jenn Ellen came down Thursday evening, and we started early Friday morning. Brad Boy cooked hamburgers for us all on his new grill Thursday night. They were soooooo good. I put on a brisket late that night, and it cooked all night long.
Hana Grace and her mommy and daddy came over and we got to visit with them for quite a while. Friday morning Jenn Ellen and I went to Wal mart to get some things we needed. Then we went to McDonald's for some crack coffee. Man I am so glad that we do not have a McDonald's on this side of the lake. I would be getting that crack coffee every morning. I think that I may go by Sonic and see what their iced coffee is like in the morning on the way into work. Anyway we got our fix and headed home.
When we got home we started in on the meal. Sis, Douglas, Courtney, Joe momma, Hana Grace, Mark, Glenda and even Brandon and Sonny came by. We had fresh fried squash for Joe, Joe, sure do hope he liked it. Nana made her famous potato salad and baked beans. Brad cooked 2 whole chickens on his new grill on the rotisserie, they were really good. I made a fresh cucumber, tomato onion and bell pepper salad. Sister brought lots of fresh fruit. We all had plenty to eat, then we preceded to start the games.
We played a new form of Cranium, it was fun. Then we all went out to watch the fireworks. Brad got rid of the rest of his bottle rockets, he set them all off at one time up on the hill. He
must have had at least 30 dozen of them. We had some trouble out of the dogs, since the fireworks this year were so loud. Rowdy could not hear anything he is almost deaf now, but Maggie and Lucy sure made up for it. I messed with Lucy until around 2 am then gave up on her. She hates the fireworks. Brad Boy scared her really bad the first year we had her. Hana Grace was a show in herself. She has to be the best little baby that I have ever been around. No trouble at all. I do think she will be walking by the time she is 9 months old. She is pulling up now and letting go, she is very daring. It won't be long.
Sister called Josh Bob and we all told me hello, and that we sure missed him not being here. After the fireworks were over everyone left and we set out in the garage for a while then went to bed.
Saturday we just lounged around. Courtney, Joe and Hana came by on their way back home to Frisco. Hana's aunt Victoria was coming by to see her and they all needed to get home.
Brad cooked hot dogs, and brats on the grill on Saturday, they were really good too. We ate and watched television.
Mark and Glenda took us all out on their boat Saturday evening around 7 pm, We went out on the lake and did a little fishing, caught some fish, got to see an air show they had down at the south end of the lake at the Pinnacle Club area, and got to see lots of fireworks again on the water this time. It was so much fun. Brad caught a huge fish, I think it must have been a drum it had to weigh at least 15 pounds, he did not keep it. It was the ugliest fish that I had ever seen, but it was fun watching him and Mark trying to get it into the boat. We did not get back home till after eleven that night. We had a late night snack of heated up hot dogs and chips. I had to let Lucy in my room Saturday night so she would sleep, because of the fireworks again. She was fine in my room, she just laid down and went straight to sleep.
We got up on Sunday morning and I fixed a little breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash brown, and toast. We lounged around for a little while. Jenn Ellen got all her stuff together and her and Rowdy headed home. After she left me and Nana went to Wal Mart to get a few things.
When we got home, I stared in on the laundry, I got it all done. Even my ironing, everything is done. Nana fixed us bacon sandwiches this afternoon. They were so good with her home grown tomato's. Brad and Mark and Glenda went out on the boat again this afternoon to do some fishing. They should be getting home pretty soon.
Jenn Ellen took quite a few pictures when she was here this weekend, when she gets them on the computer I will get some on the blog of the fireworks. She is really good with her camera.
Well I feel like I covered everything this weekend. If I remember anything, I will blog about it later. Till then have a nice evening everyone, from all us Zoners............................

Sunday on the Lake

Today was a great day! I got all my ironing done early. Mark and Glenda came over and ask us to go on a boat ride around 4 or so. We finally got out on the lake around 5 and was out about 2 hours. It was really nice. We went down to the south end of the lake. OMG you should see the houses down there! Some of them have to be million dollar homes. They have huge outside fireplaces and their own beaches with real palm trees on them. They look like something you would see in a magazine. And all this is on Cedar Creek Lake, amazing. Anyway the ride was really nice, Brad drove, and Mark set up on the front and sorted the beer for him and Brad. We sure saw some amazing homes. But I like my little home here in Westwood Beach. lol We are looking forward to a busy week this week, with it being the 4th of July, lots of boaters and people next week and weekend. This Sunday was great. Blog later...........................

Was This Saturday in the Zone?

This had to be the strangest Saturday in the Zone that I have had in a long time. We went to Wally World this morning, no encounters at all, it was not even crowded. We were home in about an hour and a half. The traffic was not that bad either. I am afraid they are all waiting until this next weekend which is the 4th of July. Zoners are a strange type of people. They either go full force or not at all. Heard that Hana Grace went to Toys R Us! Hope she had a good time. Not much going on here in the zone, all I have to do tomorrow is my ironing and that is it. i do not plan on doing anything else at all. Blog again later...........................

Another Zone Day

Well I went and got my hair cut early this morning. Sure do like it this short. Then we set out to the big city of Athens. I had a Dr. appointment late in the afternoon, so we decided to make a day of it. Brad Boy, Nana and me took off! We went and got Maggie and Lucy new pet beds. We also got a new gas grill. Brad has to go and pick it up next Tuesday. We went to Bealls, Penney's, and Factory Connection. Then we decided to have lunch, so we went to the Old West Steak House. OMG we all had the buffet, it was really good, and we all ate too much. lol After that we went to the Wolf Sports Store and looked around then they took me to the Dr. My appointment went very well. He was very pleased with my incision and I ask all the questions I could think of. He ask me if I had returned to work yet! I told him that I went back the Monday after surgery, he just laughed and told me not to be lifting anything over 20 pounds. I told him I would be really careful. Anyway after that we headed back to the zone. We went to Wally Word at the lake, Brad had 3 encounters at the store, I was cracking up. So now I am back at home and tired as hell. I am going to fix me a chocolate shake later, that sounds so good to me.
I am really looking forward to everyone being here on the fourth. We did pick up a little something for Joe today, we could not pass it up. Can't wait to see him. Everyone have a good evening and I will blog at you later.

Move Over Paula Dean, Dian is cooking again!!!

Yep, I did it again this Sunday. I out did myself again. Today I made pot roast in the crock pot. OMG it was sooooooo goooooooood. I took a small chuck roast about 3 lbs., got my crock pot out, turned it on to high, sprayed it really good with oil, cut up 5 potatoes and one large onion. I put several pieces of potato on the bottom, added about 1 cup water, then added the roast and one package of Lipton onion, mushroom dry soup mix, a little garlic salt and pepper then put the rest of the potatoes and onion pieces on top. Put the lid on and do not look again for several hours ( at least 5) . I use Pioneer brown gravy mix, it is the best to me. After about 5 - 6 hours you can check the roast , mine was perfectly done. I mixed up the Pioneer brown gravy mix following the package instructions, set to the side. I look to see how much Joice I had, I saw that I needed some more so I added some more water (about another 2 cups)
then poured in the gravy mix, recovered it and let it get really thick. Yummy!!!!!!The only thing I would have done different is I wished I had a dried bay leave to add to it, it makes it taste so good. Well while that was cooking this morning, I got to craving fresh squash, so Nana and I ventured across the zone to Mabank to the produce market. Omg I bough some of the best squash. So when we got home I cleaned the squash cut it up in pieces with a onion boiled it till it was tender, drained it added butter and cheese, yep cheese it was so good too. And Nana got some frozen light bread at the store yesterday, so we had fresh baked bread too. The only thing I do not have a a really good dessert, oh well, I will have a chocolate shake later. I don't know what the deal is, but I did enjoy cooking this meal. Maybe that was because i just put it in the crock pot and forgot about it. And it tastes so good to me, I know that has to do with not smoking any more. It is going on 3 months now. Hurray for me! And I do feel alot better yesterday and today than I did on Monday and Tuesday of last week.
I bought a brisket for the 4th of July, and we heard that Joe, Joe had never had fried squash, so we are going to fry some up for him. If anyone has any suggestions for the 4th meal let us know, right now we had brisket, fried squash, potato salad, fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden, and whatever anyone else would like, sliced onions, bread and whatever else. Now this if for the 5th of July the Saturday after the 4th. i told mom that we would need to fry up about a bushel of squash, because I know how everyone else likes it. Sure wish Josh Hollywood Clark and Angela were going to be here. Brad, Josh and Joe can sure put on a good fireworks display, only this time Joe, it is not inside of the garage. Our neighbor Jose is supposed to be having the big blowout on Friday the 4th of July at his house on the lake, so we can all watch the displays across the water. That will be another long weekend.
Later from the Zone................................

Sultry Saturday!

What a day. Hot, Hot, Hot. Well it is another Saturday from the Zone. A very hot, sultry one. Saturday after another pay day Friday in the Zone. The creekers weren't really out alot this morning. I actually enjoyed the Saturday trek to wally world, hate to admit it but I did. I feel pretty good today too! Now that I have all my cleaning done, and laundry, and ironing accomplished I am not going to do another damn thing today.. lol
Sister came by for a little while this afternoon. We had a nice visit. Nana sure has been getting some good tomatoes out of her garden. They taste sooooo gooooood. She made some more of her chi lie sauce stuff, Brad loves it with chips, go figure. I had the best sandwich this afternoon, bread, mayo, fresh sliced tomatoes, and a slice of cheese, salt and pepper. Yummy!!!!!!!
Had a long week at work this week, was sick for a few days, but lots better now. I go back to the Dr. for a check up this next Thursday, I am hoping to get my hair cut this week too. I saw Rowdy's pictures after his cut, he still looks just like Rowdy. After all it will grow back. Jennifer must be busy this week, she is such a worker.
Today is Brandon Adams birthday. He said he wanted to wait to celebrate with everyone else in the July birthday's, he is such a zoner. Lucy has been giving me fits about letting her in the room, then barking to go back out, then back in. She is definitely a zone dog for sure. And of course Maggie is just the little barking bitch zone dog. She sure is shedding I think I have Nana talked in to having her hair all cut off right before the 4th of July. It will be alot better for her. We did it last year and she was fine with it, although she does look like a Dingo Dog according to Brad Boy.
Sure wish Nana had planted some squash plants this year. I have been craving fresh fried squash, and squash casserole. Maybe I can find someone that is selling it here around the lake. Surely some zoner planted some somewhere, Nana usually does but she said she forgot this year. She only set out 38 tomato plants, now we have them running out of our assess. I bet we set some squash out next year for sure.
I saw the neatest recipe on the Paula Dean show last night and I am going to try it. It is for peanut butter cookies, this only makes about 9 cookies:
1 cup peanut butter, smooth or crunchy
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
preheat oven the 350 degrees
grease a cookie sheet
mix all above ingredients well, roll into balls about the size of walnuts ,put on greased cookie sheet and take a fork and dip in sugar, and press each ball out with the fork. cook for about 12 minutes in the preheated oven Let cookies cool for a little while before removing. I can't wait to try them, they sound so good. I love peanut butter anyway. I will let you all know how theyturnout, or if any of you get the urge to make them let me know how they turn out.
Hope everyone has a nice cool evening.

Wiped out Wednesday

Today is Wednesday, I did not go to work yesterday on Tuesday was so sick. All night the night before and all day Tuesday. So sick I could not go to my Dr. appointment. I did get a few bites of chicken noodle soup down. Well this morning I got up to go to work, and was just completely wiped out.I mean I had no strength what so ever. I do feel a lot better this evening, I actually ate a little more this evening.
Courtney sent me a picture of Hana's new play house, room or she called it a cage. I bet she will truly love it. She will pulling up and walking around it in no time whats so ever. Jenn Ellen was over there taking pictures. lol Can't wait to see them.
Well I am going to lay down for a while, and try to go to sleep. Will blog again soon.

Evening in the Zone

It is getting on into the evening on Sunday. Thought I would blog a little bit more. I did not feel to good this afternoon, sort of sick to my stomach, so I just lounged around. I feel much better now. Sure seemed hot today. Jennifer went to the theatre today to see the Drowsy Chaperon, sure hope she liked it. The Massey Clan went home earlier today. Did not hear from sister this afternoon, but Doug was home today and it was fathers day after all. I sure did enjoy having Hana Grace over yesterday, she is so good and beautiful. I think she will be walking in about another month to month and a half. Then watch out!

Zone Sunday

Sorry it has been so long since I last blogged. Courtney made a comment yesterday when her and Hana Grace and Sissi came over, that I was almost as bad as Josh. Well I am going to try to do better.
Yesterday was the Wal-mart day. It was like a fricking zoo at wally world. We had to take Maggie Mae to the groomer first where I ran into Jonna Kay Cook(Lambert). We had a nice visit and she filled me in on lots of the old crew at the DQ when I had it. She wanted to know about everyone. I told her that Courtney had a baby, and she wants to see her, so I am going to send her the blog address, and Jenn Ellens too.
Nana got lots of fresh tomatoes out of her garden yesterday. I figure about 16-20 at once. They sure are good. We gave Courtney and Sis some to take home. Nana can't wait for Jenn Ellen to come down to get some of the tomatoes too! Well Nana just came in with another basket full of tomatoes today, Sunday. She made some of her famous chili sauce Saturday, and sure is good.

I Can Still Cook

Well. I did it. Chicken fried steak, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, with hot rolls. Yep I got my fill and won't need anymore of that type of comfort food for a long time. It had been such a long time since cooking like that but it was fun. U do believe that I could give Joe a run for his money on the mashed potatoes. Now that I have that urge settled I don't want to cook again for a while. lol Lataer.......................

Lazy Sunday in the Zone

Ran in to some real zoners this morning at of all places Brookshires. Yep, this was there one and only trip to town for the month. They were arguing over everything and had about 3 full buggies of groceries, and of course the famous Lone Star Card. What a trip. Well I am craving chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy so I am going to fix it myself today. lol I will probably have a few bites of it and that will be it, I won't want it again for years. But since I quit smoking everything taste's so different to me. That could be good or bad.

It is hot and windy again today, wish we would get some rain. Nana's tomato plants could use some rain. By the way she pulled about 6 ripe ones today. They taste so good. When she gets quite a few together I am going to try to take a picture of them and post it, wish me luck, I am not the brightest when it comes to computer crap. Hope everyone is having a lazy Sunday like I am. I actually did my cleaning and ironing yesterday, so I have nothing to do today, so I am going to cook. This time of year there is absolutely nothing on the TV to watch, so I have been scanning, surfing, what ever they call it all day today. Nana just cleaned a cantaloupe and it sure smells good. Yep, it is good, had to go sample it. There is nothing like fresh cantaloupe this time of year.

Have a good and lazy day. Later from the Zone........................

Sizzil'n Saturday in the Zone

Gee gads its hot. Saturday in the Zone, let's see. Yep 99% of the zoners were at wally world with me and Nana today. What a trip. I had 2 encounters this morning. Now this is strange, but not really, I know these people from working at the Dairy Queen, talk to them every time I see them, but could not tell you their name for anything. Lol. As usual we got some he-she checker to check us out. I swear she forgot to shave this morning. I have a regular checker I like to use but she wasn't there when we were, so we had to use this He-she thing. She had to check every ad we had, I'd bet she could not read just looked at the pictures. Well we got all our stuff loaded up and when we got home Brad boy carried it all in for us. We took Maggie Mae to the vet this morning early, for her shots. She has been favoring her leg she broke when she was a puppy, so we had the vet check it out. The vet thinks she may have aggravated it some way and gave us some medicine to give her everyday through a syringe in the mouth. Bet that is going to be easy. She only weighed a little over 5 1/2 lbs. So if she every shows her face again this afternoon I am going to try and give her some medicine. Well I did some cleaning today, my usual Saturday crap, and now I am worn out. I am ironing my clothes for the week. Jenn Ellen sent me the neatest get well card the other day. She is quite the crafter.

Maggie just came in my room so I gave her medicine, she took it pretty good..Hope she continues to take it this well. I took her outside, damn it is hot out there and the darn wind is still blowing like a hurricane. Not many boats out on the lake this weekend. With the gas prices so high I don't see how people are going to afford being out on the lake on the weekends. Later...............

Pay Day Friday in the Zone!

Well, it is finally friday in the Zone. Everyone is so excited pay day friday in the Zone. There will be alot of drunk zoners tonight. I haven't blogged for the past few daysI have been so tired after working all day, and then coming and doing more paper work at home for at least another hour every night. I haven't been resting too well at night this week, you know how I am with the full moon crap! I have to have it really dark and lots of noise, I know it sounds strange but go figure. I have really been enjoying Jenn Ellens blog, I love her view of things. And then Courtney's blog is really cool, that is the first thing I do every noght when I get home is get on line and check out Jenn's and Courtney's blogs. Well Nana is starting to get fresh tomatoes out of her garden. Today she pulled one of the biggest ones she has grown in a long time. It was bigger than a soft ball, perfect color red, and not a flaw on it. She is so proud. We had fresh beets, cabbage and carrotts last night out of the garden. MMMMMMMM so good! Her tomatoe plants are taller than she is, lol she is thinking she may need a ladder to pick them. Well i am going to take Maggie to the vet in the morning, she needs her shots, and she limping on her front leg that she broke when she was a pup. In fact she won"t even use it. Brad is calling her Tripod this evening. After the vet, we are going to Wal-Mart, it will be my first shopping trip since my surgery. I have been craving sweets all week, and I plan on getting some cookies or cake tomorrow. i will probably take a bite and then that will be all I needed, sure hope so. I am going to have to be very careful and not lift anything heavy. Don't have to worry about it when I get home Brad will bring everything in for us. The stores will be really crowded tomorrow, it being the first of the month, and pay day. This time of the month tends to bring all sorts out from the Zone and the river. I am sure I will have several encounters while we are out. I will be sure and post all of them tomorrow if I do. Wish us luck ...............................

Sunday already

Well it is Sunday evening, darn. I am going to try to go back to work tomorrow. Hope I can make it all day. I have been feeling pretty good, just get really tired fast. Had a pretty nice weekend, stayed in bed most of it. Sissi came over and visited a couple of times, Courtney called, Jenn Ellen called, Doug came over and visited too, had a nice weekend. Mark and Glenda came over this evening before they headed back to the metroplex. The weather is really getting hot outside, I went out a few time today and could not stay too long. I see where Josh Bob finally added some stuff to his blog. I heard he went to work, so he will really be busy now. Sure hope he will keep "Prison Break" in line for me. Well little Hana Grace started crawling full force this weekend, do Courtney and Joe have their hands full now. lol The race has just begun. I saw where Jenn Ellen got her car back, good for you Jennifer. Better go for now and try to get some more rest before tomorrow morning. Be blogging later........................

The Zone, Creek Zone, Creekers, Zoners and more..........

Well, I guess it is time to tell the story of the Zone. We have lived down here for almost 30 years. Me and my family, daughter Jennifer & son Bradley moved down here in 1979 and inherited the Dairy Queen in Seven Points after going through a much need divorce. I moved my mom, Nana, down here in 1980 to live with me. She is really a blessing, she will be 83 on her next birthday in September. My sister and her family live here too. Ws all worked at the Dairy Queen at one time or another. After being raised in Arlington, Texas for most of our lives, moving to this area was a big deal to us. We were used to having everything we needed within a few blocks of us. Down here you had to drive to the metroplex to do any kind of shopping for school clothes and sometimes groceries. We felt like we had entered the Twilight Zone. That is where we came up the the Creek Zone. Cedar Creek Lake is a beautiful, laid back area. Believe me when I tell you that there are real Zoners. Anyone that is born and raised down here are zoners or creekers. This area has come a long way in the past years. We are actually like getting citified. I would not move back up to the metroplex for anything now. I must say that I am a zoner or creeker transplant. I absoutley love it down here. When the kids were smaller we nicknamed them like the Waltons, Jennifer became Jenn Ellen, Bradley became Brad Boy, and Josh became Josh Bob all of this was B.C.(before Courtney). That used to piss her off when we would say something happened and it was B.C. Courtney is our real Zoner, she was born in Mabank Texas at the family clinic. We also have a friend Pam Green that is a real zoner, she was born at the donut palace in malakoff.
We have made so many good friends since arriving in the zone. These are friends that we will keep forever. Back in 2001, we deceided to invent our own holiday for the zone. We have it on Memorial Day weekend every year and it is called ZoneFest. All friends and family are invited to come and we usually have quite a crowd. This year was our 7 annual Zonefest and we had aroun 50 zoners and creekers to show up. Everyone had a great time. We do all the cooking here at my house and the guests bring their lawn chairs, and drinks. I will be sharing some of the interesting stories from over the years as my blogging come together.
I am looking forward to more zone stories, later..............................

Wednesday already!

Well today is already Wednesday. I go in for surgery in the morning, nothing too bad just a hernia and I hope I get to come home tomorrow afternoon if everything goes okay. I hate that Brad will miss Marks dads funeral tomorrow but I hear the Joe and Doug are going. That is so nice. Mr. Fuerubacher was a neat man, he could keep you in stitches all the time. Never knew what would come out of his mouth. He will missed around here for sure. Mark and Glenda have to be the best neighbors that we have ever had. Actually, we have quite a few good neighbors now. It us such a pity that it took us almost 28 years to get them. lol Anyway the day at work was as usual SSDD. We are getting close to being at the new plant, I hope it does really well.
I saw where Hana went to the Dr. today, she is so good, and growing like a weed. I love her new outfit. Hope Courtney gets to feeling better too. Well Jonathan came over again today to stay with Nana. Brad has him out in the boat right now fishing, hope he catches something. He is such a good helper when he is around here. Well I am going to go for now, and start my nightly ritual, that happens when you get old, you have certain things that you do every night, or at least I do. I have to be in Athens before 7AM in the morning, yuck. Well when this is over maybe that will put me back on the right track. TTYL.................................

Ugh! Back to work

Well I went back to work today. It sure seemed like a Monday with the rain and all. Everyone seemed to have a nice holiday. I guess our Hana is eating veggies now! I bet she will like them all because her mommy is doing them herself. I knew Courtney would be a great mother. She had too many dolls when she was young, and treated them all like children. lol
Well the last of the company left today, Bubba, Patty and Tyler. Tyler got to fish 3 different times and caught fish all 3 times. He really enjoyed it. I think Brad had as much fun as he did just helping him. Jonathan came over to stay with Nana today, he is already out of school for the summer. He went fishing too, and caught fish also. Nana said one time he got so wet from the rain and had to take his shirt off and dry it in the dryer. lol I hope I can get the hang of this blogging stuff. later................

ZoneFest Success!

Well we had another succesfull ZoneFest. We had about 40 -45 people here at one time or the other. Hana Grace Massey and Lauren Elizabeth Green made their first ZoneFest appearance. They both are so cute. Victoria , Joe's sister came this year for the first time. She is no longer a ZoneFest virgin and such a pleasure to be around. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Alot of the neighbors came this year. Sure did miss Josh Bob and Angela this year, they have moved out to Los Angeles for work and could not make it. I hope to get better at this blogging thing. It has been such a long day so I am going to leave for now. Later..........

ZoneFest Eve 2008

The big party is tomorrow starting at 6:00. We're getting the house all ready, but some dumbass just set off a firework in the newly enclosed garage. It had to be a city slicker from the Red River area. Now there's a nice aroma saturating the air. Hopefully it will clear out by tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, starting off with a trip to Wally World. We'll be running our first Encounter Counter. Just how many people will we run into that we know! Then it's to the liquor store. We'll have to make sure we take our fish to trade. And then we're tying Nana in the kitchen to make up the 50 lbs of potato salad and 25 gallons of baked beans. Plus, we've got the olives for bobbin'.

We got our buckets of margaritas in the freezer ready to go. The outside fridge is full of drinks and ice. We'll have to have everything ready by 3:00 for any early arrivals. Plus, we're gonna get the gaming tables set up.

Well, we've off to bed to get an early start tomorrow. We sure look forward to seeing everybody! Although, we're gonna be missing Josh & Angela!!
